High Sierra file sharing problem

I upgraded to 10.13.1 - High Sierra. My wife and I share one macbook pro and have separate user accounts. Both accounts have admin rights. For files we both use, they are in a folder under one of the user's accounts and then shared with read/write rights granted to the other user. Since that upgrade the only way the file sharing will work is if the shared user logs out and then back in. It also then will only work until a change is made to a file then the sharing rights go away and the little red circle with a white line appears on all the shared folders.

Any suggestions on how to fix?
