lost developer account information

My organization published an iphone/ipad app in 2012 and the developer is no longer with the company. The app needs to be updated, but unfortunately the developer account information is unknown and we have been unable to track it down. How can we recover the account information to update the app? Or if we upload the updated app under a new account, how can we get the old app removed from the app store? Thanks for any help!
