itunes not responding to Mac Book Pro trackpad/mouse

iTunes responding very slowly (or not at all) to my trackpad. Includes 2 finger up and down and click drag sliders with mouse.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), iTunes 12.6.2.20
