Dropped iPad, need to plug in/restart to ise

Our daughter dropped our iPad on the floor, and we were worried it was completely broken. However, we find that if we plug it in, it reboots and works fine. We can then unplug it and use as normal. But if it goes to sleep, about half the time we need to do the plug-in-and-reboot again, regardless of battery life. The other times it wakes up just fine.

So we can get it to work, just half the time it's a pain to find a cord and plug it in. Any possible fixes?
