Apple symbol and safe mode when waking up

I recently had my macbook (2016 early) top case replaced. Ever since, on occasion when I open the lid after a while the screen starts black with an apple symbol and then goes to the log in screen. After logging in for a few seconds the dock resembles safe mode (greyish white) and then flickers for a few seconds toxome back to the default. I have reset MacOS (high sierra) but this still persists. Any idea?

Really disappointed. The top case had to be replaced at a high cost and the computer has not been the same ever since
