Remotely turn on find my iPhone after it was stolen

Hi! I need help, this past weekend I was in Las Vegas and my phone was stolen. I thought that my "find my iPhone" was on, but apparently it is not. I tried calling my phone but it had already been shut off. Is there anyway that I can remotely turn on "find my iPhone" from another trusted device such as my laptop or iPad to wipe my phone? I find it odd that iCloud can work across all your trusted devices but there is no way that you can do this? If you can't, I suggest it be an option for the future. I desperately need to wipe my phone and have no way to do this as of now. Someone please help me!

You are not addressing Apple here, this is a user to user support forum, and Apple does not participate here. So suggesting a change will not make its way to Apple here.

If there was a way to remotely turn Find My iPhone on, there would also be a way to hack and turn it off, which would not be a good thing. That is why it requires the device be in a person's hand to activate it. Are you sure it is not activated? If you go onto the computer and log into http://www.icloud.com and click on Find my iPhone, do you see your phone listed?
