Swipe icons? Can you try describing them better, or the best thing would be to post a screenshot. You can also take a look at this page from the iPhone User Guide to see if you recognize the icon. http://help.apple.com/iphone/11/#/iphef7bb57dc

It's the control center, since the swipe up takes you to the home screen you swipe down with your finger on that section to access the control Center.
