Text Messages from iPhone 6 are being Received as Separate Messages

Hello,

I have an iPhone 6 that is running iOS 11.1.1, and my friend has a Galaxy S7 phone. When I send her a text message that exceeds a certain length, the message, when received on her end, is split up into multiple smaller messages. I have tried looking into this issue, but I have not been able to find anything about this specific problem. I tried going into my settings and turning on the "Send as SMS" option that appears within the "Messages" section, but that did not solve the problem.

Have any of you experienced a similar problem, and if so, was it an issue with the iPhone that can be easily fixed? Thank you for all of your help. 🙂

The setting that you speak of, "Send as SMS" has nothing to do with texting a non-iOS device. That setting is only for sending to iMessage receivers and iMessage is not available.

SMS messages have always been restricted to 160 characters. When sending to a non-iOS device, the carrier and the receiver's phone determine how the messages are handled. I see the same behavior when my sister-in-law sends long messages from her Android device. There really is nothing you can do except to trim your messages down.
