macos sierra install

Hi everyone

I'm a musician and I have a problem with Abelton I tried to solve it but apparently I'm not the most successful

My solution is to format and reinstall the computer

The problem that the sound card - cubase ur242 driver- has not been updated yet to macos high sierra

I am with an operating system macos sierra (More of my equipment has not been updated yet )

The question is if I format I can still install macos sierra?

macbook Pro 2017

Thank you

Eldad

From your post I get the impression that you are a painter instead of a musician 😁

Don't use capitals and don't use colours please.

Wait with upgrading to HighSierra until you are sure that your issues are solved definitely.

To avoid a lot of questions from us, download and run a diagnostic app, etrecheck, run iz and post the list here:

If you want to reformat the drive and reinstall Sierra, do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart). Run Disk Utility/First Aid. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Quit Disk Utility, then re-install the OS.

When you reboot, use Setup Assistant to restore your data.

-- First use the Remove and CleanUp buttons in the etrecheck list.

-- Then remove some files from your mac that you do not use anymore, or move some to an external. As usual is said have about 25GB free space at minimum on a SSD.

-- Then: you have installed a lot of software lately: after testing them, uninstall them completely when you do not need them.

-- Uninstall Bittorrent app and remove it from the LoginItems.

-- Somehow your torrents may have created the sysctl.conf file:

in Finder menu GO, 'gotofolder' type /etc and enter:

find the file "sysctl.conf" and move it to the desktop.

Now Restart.

That should help.

I see a lot of apps, that I don't know. The ones that are still there (musician's) check the compatibility for Sierra on the developer website or in roaringapps.com.

If all works correctly, delete the sysctl.conf file.
