when someone sends me a long message on my iphone I do not receive the whole message

When someone sends me a long message on my iphone se I can no long see the whole messsage. Before the last 2 updates I was able to see any message sent to me no matter how long or short. If it was to big to fit the screen there was an arrow or some thing that alerted me that the message was continued. I am not alerted since the last 2 os updates the message is just cut off. How do I fix it?

iPhone SE, iOS 11.1

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with sending your full messages and I am more than happy to help! First, I recommend you check out this article with steps for How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and close the Messages app. Once that is done, Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch then check to see if you are still seeing the issue.

If the issue also occurs while sending iMessages, please:

Turn iMessage off
Restart iPhone
Turn iMessage back on
Test

Hi Allen,

Thank you for the reply. I do not have issues sending a message. It is when someone sends me a long message I am not able to see the whole message. It just gets cut off no way to see the rest of the message. I also did as you suggested but that did not change anything.
