home button gets around passcode

I don't know if it's due to the new 8 digit code that iphone forced on me the other day but now all I need to do is quickly push my home button many times in a row and my screen opens up without entering the passcode. Simply put, it's a cheat around the screen passcode. What's the story?

To test:

1. lock you screen

2. quickly tap up and down on the home button until the home screen appears without inputting your passcode
