Not receiving SMS messages on iPad

Why am I only receiving iMessages and not SMS text messages. My iPad used to receive SMS messages but now for some reason will not. How do I fix it??

iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iOS 11.1

Hi. You need to reset your Continuity settings, see link: Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support. They may have been lost in an iOS update.

On your iPhone, Text Forwarding must be turned on for your iPad. Just found that fix on another apple support page. Worked for me!
