sudden printing slowdown

For years, when I chose "Print…" the printer sprang to life immediately. Suddenly, there is a delay of 1 to 2 minutes before there is any action . I am printing from my iMac via a long-standing shared connection through my MacBook and I don't recollect making any changes to my System settings, or to the printer settings.

Any suggestions please.
