The warranty is not international.

Apple doesn't actually say that. What they say is that they may limit warranty service to the country of origin(or the EEA for devices which originated anywhere inside it.)

The warranty is not international. All you have to do is search these forums for the word "India" and you'll see hundreds of threads that answer your question. You will not be able to get it serviced in India if you buy it in the US.

Only if the place you take it to says so. They're not obligated to honor another country's warranty.
