How can I switch a contact from text message to iMessage
My contact is stuck in text messages and not iMessages. We both have iPhones, we’re both connected to WiFi, and both of our iMessages are on.
iPhone 6s, iOS 11.1

Hi, Bflynn3.
I see that you've had a conversation with another iPhone user which converted to SMS instead of iMessage at some point. You'd like to go back to sending iMessages now, but you're not sure how to do so. I'm happy to help.
Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- First, both of you need to delete the thread you were using from your device(s), then begin a new one from your Apple ID to their Apple ID.
Delete a message or conversation
When you delete a message or conversation, you can't get it back. So make sure that you save important information from your messages.
To delete a message, follow these steps:
- In a message conversation, touch and hold the message bubble that you want to delete, then tap More.
- Tap , then tap Delete Message. If you want to delete all messages in the thread tap Delete All, in the upper-left corner. Then tap Delete Conversation.
To delete a single conversation, swipe left over the conversation that you want to delete, then tap Delete. Want to delete more than one conversation at a time? Open Messages and tap Edit in the upper-left corner. Then tap the circle next to the conversation and tap Delete in the bottom-right corner.
If you want to keep your messages for a certain amount of time, go to Settings > Messages > Keep Messages. Then select how long you want to keep your messages.
Take care!
