Copying an iMovie project from and iMac to an iPad pro

I am trying move an move project to my iPad pro. I "shared" the project to iTunes and it is suppose to show up in the "file sharing" section under "iMovie" but it does not. It does show up under "home movies" and I can sync it to my iPad but I cannot open it from there in iMovie or in iMove itself. The bottom line is I need to know how I can edit a movie I created on my iMac with my iPad?
