custom labels

I used to be able to add a custom label when adding multiple phone numbers on Contacts on my iPhone. This way I could keep a spouse's phone number as well as the main contact, etc. This doesn't seem to be an option anymore. Why is this taken away? Is there a workaround?

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.1

Hello HughJM,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you want to add a custom label to a contact in the Contacts app. To do this, follow these steps:

Change a label. If a field has the wrong label, such as Home instead of Work, tap Edit. Then tap the label and choose one from the list, or tap Add Custom Label to create one of your own.
