I had 4.88GB of space available on iCloud Drive. I then added a 800MB movie to iCloud Drive which I can now see on all my devices however all my devices still reflect 4.88GB of space available. The movie file doesn't seem to take away any of that space. Can someone shed some light on this please?

Im not buying this answer. I have a 200GB plan now. I uploaded 161GB to it and I still have 199GB free.
This is either flat out broke or Apple hasn't explained how iCloud storage works in any way shape or form.
All this money and all these years and they STILL cant get the cloud right. So infuriating.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
My experience has been that smaller size files may not reduce the open storage space in iCloud. Once you add more, teh space is then reduced.
So a single file that would occupy 14% of the available storage space is "small"? odd.
Occasionally I have seen that. I agree it is odd.
