I can't send messages after upgrading to high Sierra on my iMac but I can receive them. I immediately get a red exclamation point and it say not delivered -
iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017), 10.13.1

Does this issue only happen with the Mail app or with using a web browser email client as well? Also, does this issue happen with just one email provider or all email providers?
Have you tried using the built-in Mail Connection Doctor? If so, what was the results?
It only happens with the messages app not the mail.

I ended up on live chat with an apple tech. They had me reset the Nvram by shutting down and then starting up holding down the control - command - p - r keys. It did the trick.
