Keynote does not open

Keynote version 6.2.2 is in my iWorks folder. I used it once years ago. Now, the wheel spins forever, its trying to open keynote in icloud. No success. I dont use icloud - knowingly.

Other iWorks apps function well. They update automatically when I open them. I tried to download the newest, free version of Keynote (from a third source), but it doesn't stick, and show up in downloads or anyplace.

The newest Keynote 7.2 version gets bad evaluations. I prefer to work with an older version, one that has still the "safe as" command. Can anyone help me figure out how to get a good Keynote version to work on my Mac? Thank you! Leonore

Please confirm the Mac OS you are using, your profile states Mavericks, why are you using such an old OS, can't your Mac update to a newer system?

The following refers to Keynote version 6 or 7:

  • Keynote must be installed in the Applications folder and not in any other sub folder folder
  • There is only one place you should download and install Apple applications and that is the App Store, it is accessed from the Applications folder
  • Never download Apple applications from other sources
  • if you don't use iCloud, sign out from: Apple Menu > System Preferences > iCloud
  • The latest version of Keynote is 7.3, but the version appropriate for your Mac is dependant on the operating system you have installed
