Will all the third party apps I now use with El Capitan 10.11.6 work with High Sierra 10.13.1 on my MacBook Pro 17-inch mid 2010?

Do not overlook investigation at each third-party application vendor's site to see if they have comments, warnings, or updated application versions for High Sierra. If the site is unclear, shoot their support team an email asking about High Sierra compatibility. This information won't appear on roaringapps.

Make certain that you have all of the OS X El Capitan Security updates applied after 10.11.6 was released.

Check if your printer/scanner has High Sierra driver support at the respective vendor site.

If you are using Office for Mac, here is Microsoft's recommendation for High Sierra.

If you are currently using applications that require Apple's Legacy Java 6, then you will need to update that with Download Java for OS X 2017-001 for High Sierra.

Thanks, VikingOSX. I thought I would get an email each time someone responded, but I guess not. Apologies for not acknowledging your response until now.

Anyway, it would seem that moving to the next OSX level, High Sierra, will require some work on my part. I recently spoke with an Apple support guy who said he usually waits for awhile before moving to the latest OS upgrade, so I think I'll do the same, and that will give me more time to investigate as per your suggestions. There are some old apps that I've used for years, and I'd sure hate to lose them.

Thanks for the info, Eric.

Strange, but my response to KiltedTim was quite shortly after he posted his reply to my question on Nov. 16, but my response to him is now marked as Nov. 28. And I thought that VikingOSX's post was not yesterday (the 28th) but earlier than that, but now it's marked as the 28th. So if I'm right about that, no email was generated to VikingOSX's post a lot more than a few hours after his post.

Just sayin', and I hope that will be helpful.
