I received my new iPhone X last night and loaded the backup from my old iPhone 6. Now all my apps are waiting. The new iPhone came with iOS 11.1.
I’ve tried deleting the apps and downloading them again from the App Store but only manages to get 1 app to download. I’ve also tried turning the phone off and on again.
Would appreciate any help

Apps are not part of a backups (only apps' data are).
Make sure you are connected to Internet using Wi-Fi (Cellular connection won't do for apps larger than 150 MB)
Apps will be re-downloaded from the cloud.
Also help with your iPhone connected to wall power.
The arrangement of apps on the home screen is part of the backup, but the apps themselves will just re-download from the App Store after you have restored the backup. Or they should...
Deleting the waiting apps and downloading them manually will get rid of the app data that was backed up, so hopefully you can find another solution.
It may also help to connect your new iPhone to the power adapter, particularly if the battery is low.
