Want to use an external 4k monitor with retina 27"

The apple support page says:

You can use 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs with these Mac computers:

  • MacBook Pro (Retina, Late 2013) and later
  • Mac Pro (Late 2013)
  • iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) and later
  • Mac mini (Late 2014)
  • MacBook Air (Early 2015) and later
  • MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) and later

and I have a late 2014 model so I purchased an LG 32 inch 3840x2180 monitor and hooked it up and it doesn't work. Then I read further down on the support page and it states that the LG Ultra Fine Display only works with models 2017. I wasn't sure the UHD is an Ultra Fine Display. Anyway, what 4k monitor can I use with my iMac?

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Solved the problem. Spoke with LG tech support and the DisplayPort cable that I was using was old and couldn't support the newer 4k monitor. Purchased a "Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter" with a newer HDMI cable and now the monitor works.
