bluetoothaudiod crashing on High Sierra

I upgraded my Mac Pro to High Sierra (10.13.1) today, and now I'm not able to play audio through my Bluetooth home receiver (Yamaha RX-V581).

[Before you ask: I have reset the PRAM, the SMC, deleted the device, unpaired and paired multiple times]

The Bluetooth pairing works fine; both devices find each other. But when I try to select it as the audio device, it keeps reverting to the internal speakers, whether I do it from the menu bar or the control panel.

Here's the log from Bluetooth Explorer (important lines bolded):

Sometimes the bluetoothaudiod has exited/crash with signal 11 (Segmentation fault). But it always crashes with this receiver.

I was able to connect to a simpler device, a Logitech BT Adapter, with no problem. One difference between the two devices is that the Yamaha is talking with mediaremoted; for example, when I use the Yamaha remote to change the volume on the receiver, the system volume on the Mac changes as well (if they're paired). I'd be fine with turning that function off if it's what's causing the problem (it's actually kind of annoying).

Anyone else seeing this?

I am having a similar problem; playing anything through my UE Boom 2 connected via bluetooth and it will randomly crash (The sound cuts and if I try and open the debug menu I get a spinning wheel for 10 seconds or so before the sound returns). This happens every hour or so.

I have: removed and re-paired all bluetooth devices, reset the bluetooth module, PRAM, SMC, performed a clean install...

Sometimes the volume buttons on my 2015 MacBook won't work either - they will show volume going up or down but it just stays the same volume until I turn off bluetooth and then turn it back on. Switching off Siri and dictation has allowed it to re-start faster (going from 30-90 seconds down to 10-20 seconds or so) but it still crashes.

VERY annoying!
