garage band crash

I have not used GarageBand since before installing Sierra. When I tried to open it tonight, I got the message below:User uploaded file

After this appears, the app stops responding and I have to force quit.

How can the plugin be updated if GarageBand can't even be opened?

I want to create a phone ringtone from an existing sound file and I need GarageBand to do this.

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13), 2.7 GHz, 8 GB, 5 external drives

Nothing appears for it in App updates and I have the latest High Sierra updates.

If there is a newer version, why nothing in updates available?

version 6.0.5 was the final update to the version 6 series, the current version of GB is 10.2.0. in Apple terms it's full point Upgrade, rather than an Update

open the App Store application and search for GarageBand, that should present the newest version to D/L
