In order to listen to music from your Apple Watch, you need Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth speaker that has been paired directly to your watch.
Follow the instructions here to do so:
- Listen to music on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
- Connect Bluetooth headphones or speakers
- Play music
- Radio (Apple Watch Series 3 only)
The built-in speaker cannot be used for listening to music. It is instead used for features including notification alerts, Siri Speaks, Tap to Speak Time (for the Mickie and Minnie Mouse watch faces) and for listening to the other party during phone calls.
