I was told by Apple that I cannot send a group message to where all the recipients do not see the other people involved in the group and reply back to me individually instead of the group. This is my first iPhone as I have always used in android

I just switched over to an iPhone from an android. I send a lot of text messages through a group format and Apple said at support that I cannot send a group message without all recipients seeing everybody else’s responses.

Can you still have each person send you a separate text for the responses?

I may be misunderstanding exactly what you want to, but you can turn off Settings > Messages > Group Messages and then send a message to multiple recipients without it being a Group Message.
