Why notifications are not working

After update I am rarely getting notifications on my watch I unpaired it and started as a new device and it worked once.

I realize now since I am counting on the phone that the notifications are not working on it either.

I have tried many things and am disgusted. I have 5 apple devices I need for my business and don’t have time to keep calling support besides it usually means uninstalling apps and reinstalling using my data up.

Hello a12155,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are having issues with notifications on your iPhone and Apple Watch. To help resolve this issue, please follow these steps from these resources on your situation.

If you don't see notifications for a specific app

To get notifications, connect to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. If you don't get notifications for a specific app, try these steps:

  1. Make sure that the app supports notifications. Go to Settings > Notifications, select the app, and make sure that Notifications are turned on.
  2. If you have notifications turned on for an app but you're not receiving alerts, you might have Banners turned off. Go to Settings > Notifications, turn on Show as Banners and choose a type of banner that you want to see.
  3. Make sure that you’re signed in to your Apple ID. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and enter your Apple ID and password.
  4. Make sure that Do Not Disturb is turned off. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and turn it off. Or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center and tap User uploaded file.
  5. If you’ve recently installed an app or restored from a backup, open the app to start getting notifications.

If you don't see notifications on your Apple Watch

When your devices disconnect, your notifications go to your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch. To check your connection, swipe up on the watch face to open Control Center. If your devices are disconnected, you might see User uploaded file, User uploaded file, or User uploaded file. Try to connect your iPhone and Apple Watch.

When your Apple Watch locks or you turn on Do Not Disturb, your notifications go to your iPhone.

  • When your Apple Watch is locked, User uploaded file appears on the watch face.
  • When Do Not Disturb is on, User uploaded file appears on the watch face. To turn this feature off, swipe up on the watch face, then tap User uploaded file.

For third-party apps, notifications are delivered only if your paired iPhone is also connected to a network.
