How do I keep some files on my local hard drive (desktop) and not have them transferred to iCloud when I have the iCloud drive turned on? I don't want some of these huge files being updated and stored on iCloud, too big. Is this possible or is it all or nothing?

If I want to access it quick, will a shortcut/alias to my desktop from the new location cause any problems, and where do you recommend I put a new folder?
I'm a creative but not very OS savvy, at least as not as I should be...

Move the files somewhere other than your Documents folder and your Desktop.
You are welcome. I don't think the alias will cause a problem. Put the new folder somewhere in your User folder.
