OS 10.13.1 Messages screen share not working

Trying to screen share with brother using Messages. He can control my screen, but I can not control his screen. When I ask to control his screen he accepts and things look fine from his end. I do not see his screen. Window shows waiting to connect. After a period of time window says brother is unavailable. Why is it only working in one direction?
