links in apple mail not working - Macbook

After upgrading to 10.13.1, all the links in apple mail are not working.

After clicking on the links, a new blank chrome window pops up, but it doesn't bring me to the webpage.

Same problem even if I right click and click on "open link."

All the links work if I copy the link and paste it into chrome.

The issue only occurred after I updated my iOS yesterday evening. Major regret.
