USB hub to power external Apple CD drive

I have a recent iMac (no CD drive built in) and an external Apple USB CD drive. However, no matter what USB hub I try to use, none work with the Apple CD drive as the CD drive requires a certain amount of power, apparently.

I've tried Anker USB hubs, amongst others, none work. Can somebody recommend a USB hub that will have enough power to power my external Apple CD drive.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), macOS Sierra (10.12.5)

According to > Get help with the slot-loading SuperDrive on your Mac computer - Apple Support

You need to plug the Apple USB SuperDrive directly into one of the USB ports on your iMac.

a non powered usb hub share the current of the power it's connected to to all it's ports

think usb can be as low current as 0.5amp

there are many ac powered usb hubs out there which supply enough power for devices

if you tried some of those and it still don't work then maybe the drive require the mac port and does not work with hubs

as den.thed post suggest
