Unable to personalize desktop after High Sierra installation.

I installed High Sierra and now my desktop is a solid white screen. I am unable to personalize it with a personal photo or use the app I'd been using before for the desktop pictures.

The actual computer seems to be working properly.

MacBook Pro, iOS 11.0.3

System Preferences> Desktop & Screensaver> Desktop you can either select from the standard Apple screens or from your Photos Library or Pictures folder, or you can add a folder of your choice by clicking the plus button and then select your preferred desktop picture from within that folder.
