4k video iPhone to Final Cut

Hi,

What can I do to edit my iPhone made 4k movies in Final Cut?

I've made some 4k movies with iPhone 8Plus and need to edit them but Final Cut X doesn't recognise the format. How can I have this done?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.1), 4k movie taken by iPhone 8 plus

This is because your movies are encoded as HEVC, which FCP X 10.3.4 doesn't support (10.4 will support it, when it comes, which should be before the end of the year).

For the moment, here is how to get around it:

1) In your iPhone, go to Settings->Photos. At the bottom, under "Transfer to mac or pc", choose "Automatic"

2) Use Image Capture to import your movies to your mac. They will be silently converted to H264

3) Import from your drive to FCP X
