how quickly would a thief be on to this option and simply point the device at someone else so that person can become a party of interest providing "evidence" for thief to claim and potentially absolve themselves if they were otherwise suspected by other means?

Thief stole my phone and I trace it and then suddenly disconnected my phone to my icloud account and totally lost it. Only I have is the location of last seen. This is what I want you to improved. Take pictures of the thief once they opened it.
