Flagged mail in mac mail is not functioning properly

I am having a lot of issues with my flagged email since I've upgrade to MacOS High Sierra.

Basically my flagged mail in mac mail is not functioning properly.

Emails in my Red flag folder remain in the red folder even when I change the flag colour to sort that message into another folder.

Flag counts on each folder are wrong.

Even when a flag is removed completely the mail stays in the folder.

I use flags as a todo list and this issue makes it impossible to work my system.

Is there a fix coming? Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there something I can do on my end to fix it.

And again click on minus sign , see if it works .

Rebuild of mailbox brings only mails from the server so that will not help or you can create a new user accountHow to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support and add mail account Set up Mail with email accounts - Apple Support every setting will be new and mails will automatically download in the new user account .

Thank you for your reply.

So I did what you said but when I select "rebuild" from the mailbox dropdown menu it doesn't seem like anything is happening. Is another dialogue box supposed to open up? Should there be a status bar or something indicating that the request is being worked on? Or does it just do it's thing in the background and then magically start working again in a few hours? What happened when you did it? Thanks again.

Hello again. At first I thought nothing was happening because as you noted, no dialogue box popped up and there was no indication anything was going on. However after 20 seconds or so the flagged messages in my "Support" mailbox came good. That said, a short while later it got out of whack again, so I performed another rebuild and it's been ok ever since.
