I have a 2008 iMac that I haven't used in years. I'm hoping to load OS 10.11 on this machine but the App Store doesn't recognize my Apple ID on that machine. My ID works fine on all my other devices. I need that download. Ideas?

I updated the App Store for Snow Leopard. When I then attempt the OS download and enter my Apple ID I get an alert on my iPhone alerting me to the use of my ID for another device and giving me a 6 digit code to enter after entering my ID. Tried that but now I get "Your Apple ID or password was entered incorrectly".

Ideas?
