What is a (null) project?

I made the mistake of upgrading to High Sierra. Unthinkable, but I did it. I am experiencing major problems. First off, most of my projects say (null) What in the $&#@ is that and how do I fix it? Timeline is all wacky. I really don't want to reload Sierra ( not even aware of how to do it ). Any fixes?
