Does the latest version of OS (High Sierra) prevent the use of thumb drives?

I use an accounting system, and keep my data files on a thumb drive for security. Since upgrading to the latest Mac OS (High Sierra 10.13.1) both my financial app and Finder cannot open my thumb drives.
