Sending pictures on iMessage

I’ve had my new phone 8 for 2 days now and I’ve noticed I’m not able to send photos on iMessage. When I click the button on the IMessage screen in the far left hand corner the screen goes back and the app crashes. However if I go into my camera roll and select to send a photo that way it send just not letting me send it directly from the iMessage screen! I’ve looked in all the settings and nothing seems to be working and I’ve got the latest updates on the phone and it made no difference?

Hello Bethgrace150,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to send pictures from the Messages app on your iPhone. If you haven't already, please force close the Messages app and restart your device as iOS clears cached data and does other system optimizations when you turn your device off and on.

If you're still having this issue, your next step is to reinstall iOS on your device; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article:

Use the “Update” option and not “Restore” and these steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further.
