Can't rearrange iTunes playlist 'on the fly' while it's playing, because it will jump to song that used to be there... how to force iTunes playlist to play next track in a playlist no matter where it used to be?

This changed sometime ago and it drives me crazy. I used to use iTunes playlists to DJ, and would often change the order of songs in the playlist while it's playing, pull up a song from the bottom of the list to play next, for example, or change the order of the next few songs.

Yet now whenever I do this instead of playing the song I've moved into position to play next, iTunes will jump to the song that used to be there. It's so annoying and basically makes iTunes useless for DJing.

Is there any way to force itunes to play my playlist in the order that it's there on the screen, regardless of when I put it in that order? Like it used to? If not, is there some other workaround to have a playlist in my complete control?

Universalcat,

If you want to affect the play order, make the change in the Up Next list. That is what iTunes uses to determine the sequence of songs it will play.

In the Up Next list you can drag songs up and down, or add and remove songs from the sequence.
