iPhone X iOS 11 Bug - Apple pay causing locking phone to pause music playback, and display no longer auto-locks

Hi All,

I am currently experiencing issues with the iPhone X (11.1.2) where if I am playing music on the phone, if I press the side button to lock the phone, the music gets paused, which is very annoying.

I was wondering if other people in the community could reproduce this issue on their iPhone X?

After some investigation, it seems like the issue may be to do with the auto-wake near NFC Apple Pay feature. If you have Apple pay set up, could you try this out?

Steps to reproduce:

1) Make sure Apple pay is set up on the phone

2) Play some music on the phone

3) Lock the phone

4) Hold the phone near any NFC reader. The screen should automatically turn on with Apple Pay popping up.

4a) Your music should get paused (Not sure if this is by design, but seems to be what is causing the bug).

5) Dismiss the Apple Pay popup by swiping up Home.

6) Unlock the phone and resume the music playback.

7) Lock the phone

7a) Observe how the music gets paused? (BUG?)

Once the bug is triggered, the issue will stay there indefinitely. This is fixed if you restart the phone, however, the moment you do the NFC + music playing combo again, it will come back.

Another issue that this bug seems to cause is that the phone screen will no longer auto-lock. Typically when you turn on the display without unlocking it, if you do nothing it would just turn off automatically after 5 seconds. However, once this bug is triggered, the display will stay on indefinitely (a potential big issue for iPhone X because of OLED burn in)

Let me know if anyone else can reproduce this so we can raise this as an issue for Apple to fix.
