iPhone earbud jack doesn't work with IOS 11

The odd thing is, after I power off the iPhone 7 and turn it back on, I hear beautiful stereo for about two minutes. Then it stops as a message says, "this accessory is not supported by this iPhone." Oh, really? Then why did it work so well for two minutes? Very frustrating, and please advise a fix.

Thanks, Joe. I was having trouble with the iPhone 7's jack adapter, which suddenly quit working after the IOS 11.0 upgrade, even though it worked with 9.0. Note -- it wasn't an Apple-branded adapter. So, today I bought an Apple jack adapter, and now the earbuds work fine. Glad to have solved the problem for $10, though still a bit confused as to why the old adapter suddenly became incompatible.
