Hello, Sith501.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It's my understanding that after updating to macOS High Sierra, your Mac is now stuck in a startup loop. I may be able to help with this. I would suggest trying to boot into safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac If you're able to boot into safe mode, restart your machine and see if it gets stuck in the loop again.

If that doesn't help, use this article to reinstall the macOS: How to reinstall macOS

Let us know if this helps.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!

Ok the file size for a picture needs to be less than 2 MB- my iPhone takes too large or pictures, sorry.....

The loop begins at the Apple logo, The line does about half way, and command line style writing comes up top left and eventually ends at:

Mac OS version

NOT YET SET.

Then the loop goes to:

You Mac restarted because there was a problem (written in many languages)

Back to Apple logo.

Will not boot to safe mode with holding down shift.
