Hi I was just wondering I recently just got the iPhone X and was playing around and was wondering how Face ID was working while I was standing in front of my mirror I turn the phone around to see if it would work and surprisingly it did I’m just wondering how this works if it’s supposed to be using the infrared sensors or dots should this be working through a mirror?

There's no reason it shouldn't work if your face is symmetrical, and you are close enough to the mirror. A mirror will reflect infrared as well as visible light. It will see your face as twice as far as the distance to the mirror (and reversed).
