Photos

(1) Why are the pictures I download to the new Photos arbitrarily separated into 2 different libraries – "photos" & "imports"? I have to go back and forth to find the ones I need for my work.

(2) Can I delete Photos from my MacBook Pro and use a more "user friendly" photo management program?

1. Your images are not split between these two categories. All your images are in the Photos and All Photos Albums, they’re just organized differently.

"All Photos" special album is sorted by the date the images were added to your library.

"Photos" special album is sorted based on the image creation time stamp and automatically organized based on date and location into Moments, Collections and Years.

2. Yes.

(1) I have no such "All Photos special album" in Photos. My pictures are split between the 2 albums I mentioned with no overlap. I have to go back & forth to find/sort the pictures. The old iPhotos use to allow for organizing albums easily, but not with the change to "Photos" earlier in 2017.

(2) If there's no solution then I will look into discontinuing using Photos as my management tool.

I'm well aware of that. What I'm asking is why is Photos so disorganized that the user has to do the organizational work? Why does Photos randomly mix up the photos? It's like taking a deck of cards, throwing them up in the air and then telling someone else to put them back in order.

So my questions now are...(1) what is the best photo management system & (2) after moving all 67,000 photos to that new system can I permanently disable Photos ?
