iPad Air not playing sound with news videos

My husband's 3 year old iPad air, 16 GB, running 11.0.3. (model ME993LL/B) doesn't play sound with certain videos...usually news videos on Yahoo. Is there a way to fix this?

iPad Air Wi-Fi + Cellular, iOS 11.0.3
