Kindle not working after latest update

The last update to my iPad Air 2 messed up the keyboard appearance (lower case letters smaller, and upper case ones take up more space on the key), and made the Kindle forget where I left off. I just see a blank white screen. I deleted the Kindle app and reloaded. It seemed to work for a week or so. Now it's back to the white screen after every interruption in my reading. How do I fix this, and/or reverse the update, or even change the keyboard appearance? In Settings/General it says my version is iOS 11.0.3. I can't see any history of updates. It happened about 5 weeks ago.

Thanks for any suggestions or help you can give.
