If the app had an auto-renewing subscription you need to stop its subscription, just deleting an app won't do that : View, change, or cancel your subscriptions - Apple Support
In terms of a refund all purchases are considered final, though you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will give you a one-off refund : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
