How do I edit GoPro videos on my iPad,on iMovie when I do not have enough storage to save them on my iPad

So i recently purchased a gopro and im interested in making movies etc,when I ran into an interesting problem.I know you can get videos on your iPad from your GoPro wirelessly but that's through the GoPro app and I need to get my videos into the Imovie app.I also know you can save the videos on your iPad to bring them to the imovie app but I do not have enough storage to save even a 20 minute clip to bring it over to the iMovie app,so how do I get them to the iMovie app and then to an external hard drive from my iPad without a computer? Is it possible?

Hi. Apps on the iPad can only work with files in storage on the iPad. Other devices, like external hard drives, can only be used to copy files to/from storage, aside from limited play/view capabilities in the drive's interface app. You need either an iPad with more storage (new iPad), or a computer, to edit the video as you want. Sorry.

ok so it wouldnt be possible for me to plug in a lightning storage for the ipad to give it more storage then connect the ipad to the gopro and save the videos onto the external amd if that was possible could i get those files from the external storage to the imovie app to edit them

I think I already answered that. You can store data on external devices, but you can only access them using the file manager app they come with. Other iOS apps, like iMovie, can only access files stored by them in the main storage on the iPad. You would have to copy a video from external storage in order to edit it.
